Behind the Curtain : Puppetry through the lens of Retta Folsom

An exhibition of the puppetry and stage craft of Miss Retta Folsom, known for her story time performances at the McCracken County Public Library. Her performances brought together storytelling and handicraft to inspire children’s education and imagination. This exhibition will feature Miss Retta’s puppets and sets alongside regional artists who work in a variety of puppetry styles. “Behind the Curtain” also features several historical puppets and dolls from different cultures and crafts. Both Puppetry and the art of doll making grant us a look inside the lives of people all over the world by acting as representations of real people, representing a style, or by being a catalyst for storytelling for all ages.

Exhibition Dates: June 11th, 2026 – July 25th, 2026
Reception: Friday June 19th, 2026 5-7pm
