Come play, explore and find joy in painting mini acrylic abstract landscapes. Without using a brush, we’ll finger-paint, scratch, scribble, scrape and sand our canvases to reveal deep texture and interest. Working quickly and intuitively, we’ll finish two 4″x4″ paintings by the end of the class.
The class will experiment using painted paper to make a series of small works that can be framed or used to embellish folded greeting cards. Each student will learn how to find interesting compositions within a larger painting.
This is a class on the fundamentals of landscape painting done in the studio using photographs. You will learn to see mass and form rather than details and line. Drawing, value, design, and color will be the topics of the day. We will be learning about atmospheric perspective and color mixing. Please feel free to bring reference photos.
Every good painting is good due to its strong underlying abstraction, whether it’s representational, contemporary, or abstract. All levels are welcome for this fun, upbeat class where you will learn the key compositional structures passed down to us by the masters. Use of line, shape, value, texture, and color will be our jumping off point for play, experimentation, and discovery.

It is optional to bring in a small still life object to be the star of your dreamscape.
