Tell Me a Story
June 5th – July 24th, 2021
Reception: Friday, July 2nd, 5-7pm
Local artist Michael Terra will be having a one-man show at the Yeiser Art Center with some of his most recent large works.
The work in this show is mostly monumental. In the center of the room will be a duet of sculptures 8 and 10 feet tall. There will be single 10 by 10 foot panels. There will be poems within poems, light within shadows, and ceramics that move. What brings it all together are the stories. Some of the stories are already written, some of them you will write as you look into the forms, some of them will trigger memories and enable you to travel in time.
“The best stories belong to us.
We love stories because there is something about them that calls to us- is recognizable or familiar- something that reinforces our connections.
We live in a fantastic world which mostly exists in our imaginations… we may sit in a chair but we are not thinking of that chair; we are thinking of a thousand other things most of which are not in the room with us and that chair. Isn’t that wonderful? I love that about us. It is just that ability that we all share- to soar while sitting still- that is at the heart of this show.”
